Spotted this monster 8 inch wide hairy poison ivy vine on a roadside tree. (Had to pull over and park to take a closer look!)
Couple of things to note: normally the hairy parts don’t cover the whole vine, just under the vine so they can hold on to the tree. This total hairy look is a bit odd.
The other important thing to note is how the many naked branches come right out of the main hairy vine. These side branches will be covered soon with big green leaves, flowers, and berries. At that point they look like tree branches and fool lots of people.
